This all began with a flyer from Peoples Bank in the mail. Normally, I discard solicitation letters, but for some reason, I decided to read this particular one. For seven long and painful years, we were told by banks that home ownership during our bankruptcy plan was a possibility. After a humiliating experience of going through a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, Peoples Bank offered me the opportunity to obtain a mortgage two months after I was discharged from bankruptcy. All other banks and credit unions require a waiting period of 1-2 years. I cannot say enough positive things about the manner in which the team at Peoples Bank handled a difficult refinance for my husband and I. During the process of filing for a refinance, Peoples Bank found that we had an erroneous lien placed on our title. They counseled us through the work that we needed to do to correct this error and stayed with us through what could have been a very frustrating experience. While it took several months to accomplish, we have finally closed and are feeling the relief of the burden of a heavy mortgage payment.

I have worked with Peoples Bank for three mortgage loans in the last three years. Two mortgages were for refinancing current loans and the third was the purchase of a new home.
